Chat#

Chat adds clan chat routing and formatting integrated with the clan/player state. The pages in this section explain what players see in-game, what administrators need to configure, the normal setup flow, and the most common problems you may need to diagnose.

Compatibility#

  • Component version: 1.1
  • Documentation release: 2026.09.8
  • Minimum UltimateClans version: 9.0.0

What you can do with it#

  • Enable/configure the clan chat channel and formatting
  • Use the configured clan chat command/toggle, then verify only intended clan recipients receive the message
  • Test formatting with your external chat plugin if one is installed

How it works#

Chat routing#

The Chat module intercepts supported clan chat commands/messages, formats them using clan/player data and routes them to the intended audience instead of global chat. It can coexist with external chat plugins, but formatting order matters: legacy formatting from an external provider should be normalized before MiniMessage/component output is produced.

First setup#

Before enabling the feature for players, review these installed files:

  • commands.yml
  • config.yml
  1. Enable/configure the clan chat channel and formatting.
  2. Use the configured clan chat command/toggle, then verify only intended clan recipients receive the message.
  3. Test formatting with your external chat plugin if one is installed.

Useful command entry points#

  • /{_clan} {_chat}

See Commands in the sidebar for the full command reference and configured aliases/permissions.

What administrators should configure#

  • Keep legacy color/format conversion compatible with the server chat stack.
  • Test muted/no-clan/offline cases with non-OP accounts.

Configuration map#

  • config.yml — Clan (chat, player donthave clan)

The Configuration page lists the available paths and defaults from the installed configuration, with notes on what each area controls.

Before going live#

  1. Back up the component data/configuration.
  2. Start the server and confirm the component is detected without startup errors.
  3. Test with a non-OP player and the lowest clan role that should have access.
  4. Exercise the complete flow once, including the failure/deny path, not only the happy path.
  5. Restart the server and verify that persistent state survives.
  6. If the network is multiserver, repeat the test from a second node and verify storage/synchronization.
